Key Features:
The Megger GISmonitor Portable is a portable partial discharge (PD) monitoring system for gas-insulated switchgear (GIS). It helps engineers and asset managers detect insulation defects without taking equipment out of service. As a result, maintenance teams can identify problems early and reduce the risk of unexpected failures.
The GISmonitor Portable performs real-time UHF partial discharge measurements on up to 40 channels. It detects and digitises UHF signals within microseconds for rapid fault assessment. In addition, it identifies defects caused by floating potentials, hopping particles, spacer cracks and insulation deterioration. Analogue gating also separates genuine PD activity from external interference, improving measurement accuracy.
The system works with embedded and retrofit UHF sensors, making it suitable for many GIS installations. Furthermore, optional frequency converter and input protection units support long-distance signal transmission and protect the instrument from very fast transient (VFT) events. Dedicated sensitivity verification and high-voltage test modes also simplify site testing and commissioning.
Users can connect the instrument to a PC through USB or Ethernet for live monitoring, data review and detailed analysis. The modular design also allows extra measurement channels as monitoring needs grow. Whether carrying out condition assessments or scheduled inspections, the Megger GISmonitor Portable delivers dependable partial discharge monitoring for critical GIS assets.
