Megger PD LOC-SX – Partial Discharge Pinpointing System

Megger PD LOC-SX – Partial Discharge Pinpointing System

Key Features:

  • Pinpoint partial discharge faults with high accuracy
  • Locate defects in mixed cable networks
  • Compare PD results with Teleflex SX traces
  • Operate wirelessly using battery-powered transmitter
  • Adjust pulse width for different cable conditions
  • Minimise unnecessary cable excavation

The Megger PD LOC-SX Partial Discharge Pinpointing System accurately locates partial discharge (PD) faults in medium-voltage cables following an offline PD diagnosis. It helps engineers identify the exact position of cable joints and insulation defects before repair or replacement. As a result, maintenance teams can reduce excavation work and improve repair efficiency.

The system combines the PD-TX impulse transmitter with the Teleflex SX receiving and evaluation unit. It injects controlled impulse signals into the cable and analyses their reflections to determine the precise location of previously identified PD activity. In addition, it compares these measurements with earlier partial discharge test results, providing accurate fault pinpointing across medium-voltage cable networks.

The PD LOC-SX works with XLPE, PE, PILC, EPR and mixed cable types, making it suitable for a wide range of distribution networks. Furthermore, the battery-powered transmitter offers up to 24 hours of operation, while selectable pulse widths from 50 ns to 1 µs optimise testing for different cable conditions. The rugged IP54-rated transmitter also withstands demanding field environments.

Easy to connect and simple to operate, the Megger PD LOC-SX helps maintenance teams locate insulation defects quickly and plan targeted cable repairs. Contact C2C Technologies to learn more about this precise partial discharge pinpointing solution.
