The Fluke SmartTrace™ 2082 Series Underground Utilities Locator helps technicians locate, trace and document buried electrical lines, communications cables and other underground utilities. It is suited to electrical maintenance, utility work, construction and excavation applications.
The transmitter uses a proven 33 kHz frequency for many locating applications. Meanwhile, the receiver supports both induction and direct test lead connection modes. It also provides Power and Radio modes for detecting energised wires and radio signals on underground lines.
The SmartTrace™ 2082 can measure utility depth up to 6 meters. Its detection range can extend to 30 meters, depending on site conditions. In addition, advanced signal processing and semi-automatic gain control provide fast, stable readings in challenging environments.
Safety is important when working around underground electrical services. The SmartTrace™ 2082 transmitter has a CAT IV 600 V rating and meets IEC 61010 requirements. This allows technicians to trace both energised and de-energised circuits using the same system.
The Elite Kit also adds Bluetooth® connectivity for digital mapping with PointMan®. Technicians can record the location of underground assets directly from the field. The system can capture information such as depth, signal type and date/time, creating a digital record of each locate.
Finally, the SmartTrace™ 2082 is built for outdoor working conditions. Its rugged housing provides IP54 ingress protection, while the high-contrast grayscale display remains readable in full sunlight or light rain. These features help technicians maintain clear visibility while working on demanding sites.
